VIDEO: How to do Shoulder Stand

In this week’s video, I show you how to safely come up into a shoulder stand. This inversion has so many benefits – from improving digestion to normalising your hormones and revving up your metabolism!

B.K.S Iyengar described the pose as the ‘queen of all asanas’. Inverting the body means that gravity increases the blood flow to the heart and brain. This improves circulation, relaxes the heart and brings clarity to the mind. Check out this great article for all the details.

Make sure you practice safely – watch the video first and once you’re up in the pose, make sure not to move your neck.

Let me know how you get on!

VIDEO: 20-minute full body flow

To kick-start the first week of November, I’ve produced a longer, 20-minute full body flow for you! This FREE class is designed to help you build strength, flexibility and balance. We focus on opening the hips, releasing tension and feeling amazing 🙂

I shot the video at St Ouen’s Bay in the Channel Island of Jersey – isn’t it beautiful?!

If you haven’t already, it would be amazing if you would subscribe to my YouTube channel and let others know about it too! I’m focusing a lot on building my YouTube channel and your support would be amazing!

How yoga changed my life

I’m incredibly honoured to be featured in October’s Om Yoga Magazine, talking about a subject very close to my heart… my love of yoga and how it changed my life…

VIDEO REVIEW: Floatation tank

After a particularly packed and hectic couple of weeks, I was feeling quite drained and stressed. My shoulders were tense, my energy levels were low and I felt in need of a holiday! I couldn’t quite jet off to Bali (at least not yet!), so I decided to book myself into the Float Spa at the Wellness Centre.

I was blown away by how sophisticated and hi-tech this particular float was. When I lived in London, I went for a float at least once a month, so I knew what to expect. But the floatation tanks I used there pale in comparison to this one at the Wellness Centre – the whole experience felt luxurious, serene and rejuvenating.

From the moment I walked into the room, I felt relaxed. After a quick shower, I eased myself into the pod and got used to feeling ‘weightless’. The water has a very high concentration of Epsom salt so your whole body feels supported as you relax and let go. It’s just like what you experience in the Dead Sea, but in a very controlled and sumptuous environment. The sounds of whales and a kaleidoscope of lights helped me ease even more into the experience.

I closed the pod (you can leave it open if you like, but it’s very spacious and the experience is enhanced with the pod closed). I closed my eyes, the pod went dark and a little light bulb went off in my head as I decided to try practicing Yoga Nidra whilst floating! It’s the first time I’ve ever done that and I have to say it was pretty spectacular! The two seem to go hand in hand – they both induce the Alpha brainwave state and they both help you deeply relax and let go. But practiced together the benefits seem to be amplified!

After the session, I had another shower and floated out of the room… I felt like I do after a really relaxing holiday – calm, nourished and happy 🙂

If you’re like me and can’t jet off to Bali quite yet, check out the Float Spa when your body and your mind need a little break. It’s a really unique experience and we’re so lucky that it’s right here waiting for us in Jersey…. Bali can wait 🙂

VIDEO: 17-minute flow to open hamstrings – Great for Runners

I was so pleased yesterday when one of my student’s told me she has been doing my 17-Minute Yoga for Beginner’s at home, in between her little girl’s naps! I think 17 minutes is the perfect little slice of time to start incorporating a home practice. It’s short enough to carve out of your busy day, but equally long enough to feel the full benefits of a yoga practice…

With that in mind, I’ve created this yoga flow to help open up the legs, focusing particularly on the hamstrings! Enjoy and please do let me know how you get on!

VIDEO: Twisty, feel-good yoga flow to detox

Hello yogis! I have a short and sweet flow for you this week – get ready to move on all four corners of your mat as you twist all the good stuff out and make room for the new.

I shot this video in the beautiful Wellness Centre in Castle Quay, Jersey. You should definitely check it out if you don’t know it yet. They have the only floatation tank in the Channel Islands. I have a super busy couple of weeks ahead of me so will book myself in for a float in at the end of it as a special treat. I’ll let you know how it goes!
